Yanggu Bear Festival

Gomchwi Festival is held every May in Yanggu, the largest producer of ‘gomchwi’, a representative vegetable of spring grown in cool places in Gangwon-do.

It is called Gomchwi because it is a favorite herb of bears deep in the mountains. The fresh and refreshing taste of bear stimulates the appetite in spring and is known to be effective in relieving fatigue, anti-cancer effect, improving blood circulation, coughing, and asthma.
