Gapyeong Gyeonggi-do Jathyanggi Pureun Forest (hereafter Jathyanggi Pureun Forest) is a forest for walking, contemplation, and healing. Located at 450-600m above sea level at the foot of Mt. Chukryeong and Mt. Seori, it boasts the largest scale in Korea with about 52,000 pine trees over 80 years old distributed in a 153ha forest. Jathyanggi Pureun Forest has various forest trails, such as the ‘walking path’ that encompasses the swinging bridge and deck road, the ‘Sky Lake path’ that leads to the sabang dam, and the ‘Dulle-gil’ with a total length of 5.8 km. No matter which trail you walk, pine trees towering high into the sky accompany you. In the forest, forest healing including meditation and gymnastics, woodworking experience (material cost separate), and forest commentary programs are provided free of charge. Jathyanggi Blue Forest is known to have the highest annual average phytoncide concentration among forest resorts in Gyeonggi-do, and was also named as one of the ‘100 non-face-to-face (untact) tourist destinations’ recommended this summer by the Korea Tourism Organization and the Regional Tourism Organization. It is open from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm, and the entrance fee is 1,000 won for adults, 600 won for teenagers, and 300 won for children. We are closed on Mondays to prevent the spread of COVID-19. When traveling to Gapyeong, it is good to visit the quiet Noksu Valley that connects to Jojongcheon, Music Station 1939, which was transformed into a music village from the old Gapyeong Station, and Jarasumnamdo, where the flower garden promenade is popular.
