The enthusiasm of the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics is enriched by outings to cultural and artistic spaces. There are many unique museums and art galleries in Gangneung and Pyeongchang, the main Olympic venues. The Gangneung Coffee Museum in Wangsan-myeon, Gangneung-si is a place where you can see the history of coffee and coffee farms from around the world. Recently, a second store (Coffee Cupper Museum) was opened near Gangmun Beach, which combines a cafe and an exhibition space. The Charmsori Gramophone & Edison Science Museum shows the stubborn love for sound and Edison. Thousands of Edison’s inventions, including luxury gramophones, music boxes, and movie projectors collected from over 60 countries, are on display. At the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics Promotion and Experience Center, you can see models and medals of Winter Olympics events up close. The Gangneung Museum of Art, which overlooks downtown Gangneung, and Gangneung Seongyojang, where relics of noble families are displayed, are also pleasing to the eye. In Pyeongchang, the Mooi Art Center, which was remodeled from an abandoned school, is very friendly. The sculpture park embroidered on the playground and the work of a buckwheat flower artist add to the taste. It is good to visit the Lee Hyo-seok Literature Museum and Bongpyeong Market, where you can get a glimpse of Lee Hyo-seok’s world of art.
