- Mangu-dong, Jungnang-gu, Seoul
Manguri Park is a meaningful place where independence activists and celebrities are buried. The ‘Road of Contemplation’, which runs for about 5 km along the ring road in the park, passes through their graves. While walking slowly through the forest, you will pass the annual memorial monument and graveyard of the independence martyr in turn. There are also tombs of Bang Jeong-hwan, Han Yong-un, and Cho Bong-am, which are adjacent to the roadside, so you can stop by and pay your respects. If you use the smartphone application ‘Manguri Museum’, your travel path will be much richer. After taking a walk in Manguri Park, let’s move to Gwanghwamun. Let’s take a look around along the ‘Taegeukgi Road’ built around Gyeongbokgung Palace, and go to the National Museum of Korean History across from Gyeongbokgung Palace. From the efforts for liberation during the Japanese colonial period, the process of birth and the history of growth and development of the Republic of Korea are exhibited at a glance. In celebration of the 70th anniversary of liberation, a special exhibition, Woollim Meets Ahn Jung-geun, is currently being held. It is also recommended to visit the Seodaemun Prison History Museum. It is a chapter in the history of the independence movement, with the underground torture chamber, prison, and execution site restored as they were.
