A trip to the abandoned temple site is a unique experience to go back in time and meet a completely different world, the people who lived there, and their dreams. In Yangju, located in the northern part of Gyeonggi-do, there is Hoeamsaji, which is believed to have been built in the middle of the Goryeo Dynasty and abandoned in the middle of the Joseon Dynasty. Judging from the related records, palace architectural style different from general temple architecture, and excavated artifacts that show its connection with the royal family, it is assumed that it was the largest royal temple in the Joseon Dynasty. As a Confucian country, opposition was fierce, but Hoeamsa had long been in power under the patronage of the royal family.
