In the Hantan River area in northern Gyeonggi Province, there is a place where a huge basalt canyon was created as the lava plateau was cut by the river for hundreds of thousands of years. The Hantangang River Canyon became a national geopark in 2015, and a geotrail is currently being built that connects the unique nature and the culture of the people who lived in it. Among the total of 4 courses, the 1st course, ‘Hantangang Inkstone Road’, which runs from Busocheon Gorge to Bidulginang Waterfall, has been opened. Byeorutgil is a pure Korean word that refers to a cliff road leading to a river or seashore. As the name suggests, the road connects waterfalls, canyons, and villages along the sheer cliffs next to the Hantan River. Pocheon-si and Yeoncheon-gun, where Hantangang River flows, have many other things to see. Sanjeong Lake is the No. 1 tourism destination in Pocheon, visited by 1.5 million people annually. Pocheon Art Valley is an artificial canyon created using an abandoned quarry. Amazing Park with its 130m long suspension bridge and Jeongok Prehistory Museum are also worth a visit.
