The Jeongok Prehistory Museum is located in the Yeoncheon Jeongok-ri site (Historic Site No. 268) where the first Acheulean hand ax was discovered in Northeast Asia. The building, which was completed after an international design competition, looks like a combination of a primitive life form and a spacecraft. The museum is equipped with a permanent exhibition hall, an archeology experience room (Interscope), a 3D video room, and operates experience programs that can be enjoyed by children and adults. The experience of synthesizing one’s own face and the face of prehistoric mankind using the ‘Jeongok Paleolithic Passport’ is a sniping experience for children. The permanent exhibition introduces the process of human evolution through elaborate models that seem to come to life at any moment. In the archeology experience room, let’s enjoy the ancient human VR and the frozen mummy ‘Oejji’ experience. Viewing hours are from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm, closed on Mondays, January 1, Lunar New Year’s Day and Chuseok. Admission fee free. Let’s continue our trip along the Hantangang River and Imjin River, where there are many prehistoric relics. Hantangang River Tourist Site with various recreational facilities, Imjin Mulsaerom Land, which turned a sewage treatment plant into a park, Yeoncheon Dangposeong (Historic Site No. 468), which shows the unique construction method of Goguryeo, and Yeoncheon Sunguijeonji, where ancestral rites were held for four kings of the Goryeo Dynasty (Historic Site No. 223) ), etc. are abundant.
