Myeonggok leaves warm memories and nostalgia on the roadside. In ‘Gwanghwamun Sonata’ sung by Lee Mun-se, Jeongdong-gil, church hall, and Deoksugung Stonewall Road appear. From Gwanghwamun Intersection to Jeongdong Church, there is nostalgia for the traces of walking with a lover. ‘Gwanghwamun Sonata’ was written and composed by composer Lee Young-hoon in 1988. The snow-covered chapel in ‘Gwanghwamun Sonata’ is Jeongdong First Church. Across from the church is a monument to Lee Young-hun’s song. Roadside trees with fallen leaves, the old Russian legation and a small teahouse are objects of reminiscence encountered on Jeongdong-gil. The path of ‘Gwanghwamun Sonata’ has changed a lot over the years. Next to the British Embassy, the road inside the Deoksugung Stone Wall was opened, the Seoul Hall of Urbanism and Architecture opened, and the Salvation Army Central Hall was reborn as the ‘Jeongdong 1928 Art Center’. If you climb the Jeongdong Observatory on the 13th floor of the Seoul City Hall Seosomun Building, you can see Deoksugung Palace and the entire Jeongdong-gil area. Donuimun Museum Village, connected to Jeongdong-gil, is a place that has been transformed from the old Saemunan neighborhood into an alley covered with exhibitions and experiences through urban regeneration. It is also good to visit ‘Sunhwadongcheon’, a humanities and art space with a humanities bookstore and museum concert hall, Yakhyeon Catholic Church, the first Western-style brick church built in Korea, and ‘Seoullo 1017’, which has been transformed from an overpass into an aerial promenade and a night view attraction in the city center.
