Korea is a world-class mountaineering powerhouse that has produced several mountaineers who have completed 14 peaks of the Himalayan 8000m class. Sokcho National Museum of Mountaineering is a place that shows the history of mountaineering in Korea, which has become a mountaineering powerhouse. It shows the history of mountaineering and changes in equipment, from the time of climbing a mountain without special equipment to the time of full-scale climbing with professional equipment. You can also see equipment and relics actually used by 50 climbers who dedicated their youth to the mountains and spent their lives with the mountains, including the late Kim Jeong-tae, Kim Young-do, the late Koh Sang-don, the late Park Young-seok, and Oh Eun-seon. In the rock wall experience room, you can climb a 10m high artificial rock wall with the help of an expert. It would be disappointing if Mt. Seorak and the sea were missing from a trip to Sokcho. The easiest way to experience snow-capped Seoraksan is to climb Gwongeumseong Fortress. This is because you can enjoy the majesty of Ulsanbawi Rock and the scenery of the foot of Seoraksan Mountain at a glance while going up by cable car. To enjoy the sea of Sokcho, Dongmyeong Port, which has a port, breakwater, lighthouse, and pavilion, is perfect.
