The Gumunso Dragon Festival is a local festival that has been created with the sincerity of residents for more than 10 years in Gumunso-dong, Taebaek-si, Gangwon-do.
Gumunso, where the festival is held every year, is designated as Natural Monument No. 417, meaning a swamp formed when a river penetrates a limestone mountain.
It is the only dragon-themed festival in Gangwon-do. It is a festival that originated from the legend that ancient people believed that two dragons guarding the waterways on both sides of Gumunso fought and one rose up from under the ground, creating a hole in the mountain.
