Taking the ‘Train to Chuncheon’ and meeting the ‘Girl of Soyang River’

When you travel, there is a song that reminds you of that area. Songs representing Chuncheon, Gangwon-do are ‘Soyanggang Girl’ and ‘Train to Chuncheon’. ‘Train to Chuncheon’ was sung when the Gyeongchun Line ran along the Bukhangang River, and ‘Soyanggang Maiden’ was written just before the Soyanggang Dam was built. Now it is all memories and old scenery, but it remains as an indispensable song when talking about Chuncheon and romance. When you arrive at Chuncheon Station, the terminal station of the Gyeongchun Line, the city tour bus that departs every day takes you to Chuncheon’s attractions, and the Soyanggang Maiden statue near Chuncheon Station reminds you of the ‘Soyanggang Maiden’. The neighboring Soyanggang Skywalk has long been a landmark in Chuncheon. The Chuncheon National Museum is the representative museum of Gangwon-do. Meeting the exhibited relics, taking a break at the fairly large museum cafe, and taking a leisurely walk in the Garden of the Wise Graves and the Garden of Memory make cultural heritage feel a little closer. How about taking a look around the Ethiopian Korean War Veterans Memorial on the bank of Gongjicheon, south of Chuncheon Station, and having a cup of hot coffee at the neighboring cafe ‘Ethiopiabet’? The Animation Museum and Toy Robot Museum are good places to spend a good time with children in winter.
