Geotourism is an exciting journey through time to discover the history of the land. The time of the earth is engraved on the rock. Taejongdae in Busan was created in the Cretaceous Period when Tyrannosaurus, the king of dinosaurs, lived. The blue water in front of Taejongdae was then a lake, not an ocean. The sedimentary layers accumulated in the lake hardened into rocks, and as the sea level rose, it was washed and eroded by water and wind for a long time, resulting in the present Taejongdae. Falling in love with its mysterious appearance, King Taejong Muyeol of Silla stayed there and shot an arrow, hence the name ‘Taejongdae’. Geological exploration is concentrated around Taejongbawi Rock and Sinseonbawi Rock in front of Yeongdo Lighthouse. You can see various geological environments such as wave-eroded plateaus, sea-eroded cliffs, sea-eroded caves, erosion scars, and inverted bins. The exciting history of the land nestled in breathtaking scenery is enough to captivate both domestic and foreign travelers. Oryukdo Island, a geologic site with a skywalk and the best view, BIFF (BUSAN International Film Festival) Square, a paradise for street food, Busan Film Experience Museum, where you can enjoy Busan, the city of movies, and Haeundae, which offers a romantic night sea. It brings joy to travel. In addition, there are 5 City Tour (BUTI) courses that pass through major tourist attractions in Busan. Among them, the jumbo bus departing from Busan Station is the Taejongdae Course, and the transportation infrastructure is well-established so that foreign tourists can access it conveniently.
