Subway station, become art! Noksapyeong Station Underground Art Garden

Local people
Noksapyeong-daero, Yongsan-gu, Seoul

Noksapyeong Station (Yongsan-gu Office) on Seoul Subway Line 6 was reborn in March 2019 through a public art project by the Seoul Metropolitan Government. In Korea, the subway was just a means of transportation called ‘hell train’, but the space used inevitably has been transformed into a cultural space where art and nature harmonize. At Noksapyeong Station, from getting off at the platform on the 5th basement floor to going up to the ground, ‘Cave of Depth – Chronicles of the Moment’ ‘Noksapyeong Here… ’ ‘Forest Gallery’ and other works are continuously encountered. It’s a waste of work to just pass by, so I recommend you to appreciate it slowly. In particular, ‘Dance of Light’, created using light from the ceiling from the 4th basement floor to the 1st basement floor, is a masterpiece of the Noksapyeong Station Underground Art Garden. When you come out of Noksapyeong Station, the road leads to Itaewon. The streets of Itaewon have a diversity of cultures created by different races. As you walk through the exotic alleys, you wonder if this is Korea. Tour the National Museum of Korea, where you can find brilliant relics, and Yongsan Family Park, where the wide lawn is spread out, and end your trip by enjoying the splendid night view of Seoul at Ichon Hangang Park.
