Stone walls and hanok that keep stopping you, Sokcho Sangdomun Stone Wall Village (newly opened tourist destination)

Sangdo Mundoldam Village in Sokcho surrounds Mt. Seorak like a folding screen, and boasts Baesan Imsu, where Ssangcheon Stream flows in the future. In March 2019, the village paid attention to the stone walls that contained a long history, and in March 2019, the name was changed from Sangdomunilri Traditional Hanok Village to Sangdomun Stonewall Village. With this opportunity, Sokcho has emerged as a new village destination where you can enjoy healing. In the winding alley, a friendly stone wall and a hanok are harmonized, and the stone wall gallery decorated with various stone art on the stone wall makes you stop in your footsteps. There is no gate in each house, so residents open the door and feel welcome. In addition to the stone walls in the village, there are Hakmujeong (鶴舞亭) built by Maegok Yun-Hwan Maegok, a Confucian scholar in the late Joseon Dynasty, Sokcho Maegok Oh Yun-Hwan’s birthplace (Gangwon Cultural Heritage Material No. 137), which shows the process of change of Hamgyeong-do style houses, and Songrim Rest Area with a spectacular Geumgang Pine Forest. lots of things to see. The village is also the birthplace of Sokcho Domun Nongyo (Gangwon Intangible Cultural Heritage No. 20). Residents, including the Sokcho Domun Nongyo Training Center, carry on the tradition of Domun Nongyo and popularize it through the puppet play . Sangdomun Stone Wall Village is always open, but it is not recommended to visit after sunset as it is a residential area. Admission and parking are free.
