The Daebul Hotel, which was demolished in 1978, was reborn as the Jung-gu Living History Exhibition Hall in April 2018 after 40 years. Decorated by reproducing the appearance of the Daebul Hotel, it consists of Hall 1, where you can see the history of the Daebul Hotel, and Hall 2, where you can experience the life history of Jung-gu, Incheon in the 1960s and 1970s. Daebul Hotel is the first Western-style hotel in Korea. One of the reasons why Daebul Hotel, which represented Incheon for about 10 years after opening, closed down was the opening of Korea’s first railroad, the Gyeongin Line. However, ‘Junghwaru’, which opened after taking over a closed hotel, is a great success for the same reason. Is it the irony of history? So, the time to look back on the rise and fall of the Daebul Hotel is also the time to look back at Incheon, an open port that has changed rapidly day by day. Starting with the Jung-gu Life History Museum located at the entrance of the Open Port History and Culture Street, the Incheon Open Port Modern Architecture Exhibition Hall and the Incheon Open Port Museum are located side by side, making it a good place to look around together. If Wolmi Park, a collection of representative traditional buildings in Korea, and Songdo Central Park, Korea’s first seawater park, are representative travel destinations to enjoy Incheon’s spring, then chicken gangjeong in Sinpo International Market and seasonal seafood in Soraepogu are representative of Incheon that will satisfy your taste buds. It is food.
