Pyeongchang is a blessed place with mountains and rivers. Odaesan Mountain is a holy place of Buddhism and a sacred place of trees, where Monk Il-yeon, who wrote 《Memorabilia of the Three Kingdoms》, said ‘Buddhism will prosper for a long time’. Old and elegant fir trees, birch trees, and oak trees make the summer scenery of Odaesan Mountain deeper and heavier. Odaesan Seonjae-gil runs along the valley from Woljeongsa Temple to Sangwonsa Temple. It is a historic path that Silla Jajangyulsa, who personally saw Munsu Bodhisattva in Odaesan Mountain in China, passed over 1400 years ago to enshrine Buddha’s Jinsinsarira in Jeokmyeolbogung. As you walk step by step along the quiet forest path, it feels like your worldly worries are being washed away in a clean valley. If you go to Baekryong Cave under Baekun Mountain, you will explore the dark cave by relying on the light of the lantern. While crawling on all fours and walking with a crab, you encounter works created over hundreds of millions of years, such as piano-type stalactites and shield-type stalagmites, with your whole body. Visit the ski jumping tower observatory of Alpensia Resort and the Daegwallyeong Ski History Museum.
