In late May, wild flounder and sea bream fishing is in full swing in the coastal waters of Seocheon. Because it is difficult to keep fresh wild flounder during transportation, we invite city residents to the port to hold a fresh wild flounder sea bream festival! It is a festival of style and taste to taste flatfish and sea bream hoe.
In May, in Maryangpo-gu, Seocheon-gun, Seocheon-gun, Chungcheongnam-do, which is famous as a place where you can see the sunset and sunrise at the same time, ships full of flounder are busy unloading at the Mariangpo-gu Suhyup seafood market and Seomyeon Hongwon Port fish market. Flounder is generally called flatfish, but it is a fish that lives on sandy bottoms or mud fields, so it lives more in the west and south coasts than in the east coast. Flatfish sashimi, which we can usually taste at raw fish restaurants, is mostly farmed, and it is not easy to taste wild fish. This is because it is difficult for wild flounder to maintain freshness, such as not being able to endure long in the fish tank and being stressed during the transportation process. Maryang Jin Port, Seocheon, where the triangular net fishery, which is a square net fishery, was developed early, started fishing by introducing technology from the Namhae 20 years ago, and now it has become the largest natural flatfish production area in the country.
During the festival period, you can taste flatfish sashimi and Maeuntang at a reasonable price, and on weekends and holidays, you can enjoy a variety of experiences such as catching flatfish with your bare hands and treasure hunting at the Gyeongseong Fortress Memorial Park. There is no hand color to enjoy the festival.
