Goseong Gonghyeonjin Pogu is a place that has three elements of a winter trip to welcome the new year. Sunrise, watching migratory birds, and outings to traditional villages with winter scenery are held in a nearby space. At Gonghyeonjin Pogu, the sunrise over Obbawi at the end of the breakwater is admirable. Obbawi Sunrise is comparable to other sunrise spots in Gangwon-do, such as Chuam and Jeongdongjin, but it is relatively less known and attractive. In midwinter, the sun rises exquisitely between the sunken spaces of Obbawi. The reason why the sunrise here is more elegant is because the group dance of migratory birds harmonizes. Migratory birds fly from Lake Songji near Obbawi. There is a quiet promenade around Songjiho Lake. You can spend the night in a traditional hanok in Wanggok Village. In addition, it is good to reflect on your wishes for the year while walking around the precincts of Hwajinpo, which is spread out against the backdrop of snowy mountains, or the quiet Geonbongsa Temple.
