Located in Sillim-myeon, Wonju-si, Gangwon-do, Hwangdun Samsong Village is a village with Chiaksan Mountain and Gamaksan Mountain hanging over it like a folding screen. This place is famous for a variety of steamed rice buns. White lotus root, pumpkin, and paprika are added to the dough to create various colors, and stuffing is made with red beans and sweet potatoes. There are also steamed buns with vegetables instead of bean paste. The experience of making steamed rice bread, which represents Hwangdun Samsong Village, begins with education using PowerPoint and continues with making your own steamed bread, aging, and steaming. While waiting for the steamed buns to mature and ripen, you can also experience walking around the village, making pine cones, or hand mirrors. In the spring, you can experience harvesting at the paprika greenhouse, and in summer, catching trout in a small artificial pond. The Pinocchio forest experience, which has a playground in the forest and a maze of cypress trees, is also interesting. There are many other things to see in Sillim-myeon, where Hwangdun Samsong Village is located. Yongsomak Catholic Church in Yongam-ri (Gangwon Tangible Cultural Property) is a modern cultural heritage built in 1915. The Hwangdun-ri Early Print Museum is a place where you can appreciate old print works not only from Korea, China, and Japan, but also from all over Asia, including Tibet and Mongolia. Gangwon Gamyeong (historic site) in downtown Wonju is also worth visiting. It played a central role in Gangwon-do throughout the Joseon Dynasty, but most of the buildings disappeared in the 20th century, and now some of them have been restored.
