March reminds me of patriots who dedicated their flower-like youth to the country. In celebration of the 100th anniversary of the March 1st Movement and the establishment of the Provisional Government of the Republic of Korea, how about tracing the lives of independence activists at Manguri Park? Manguri Park is an open-air museum with a passionate history. Patriots who devoted themselves to independence, such as Manhae Han Yong-un, Wichang Oh Se-chang, Ho-am Mun Il-pyeong, and Sopa Bang Jeong-hwan, are buried here. When reading the annual memorial stone erected to honor their souls, it seems like you can hear voices shouting ‘Long live Korea’s independence’. There are also graves of artists who made a mark in modern and contemporary history, such as painter Lee Jung-seop and poet Park In-hwan. Manguri Park has a thick forest, so it is good for a quiet walk. A 5.2-kilometer ‘road of contemplation’ was also created. After meeting historical figures at Manguri Park, it is time to have an audience with the king of Joseon at Donggureung. Donggureung is a World Heritage site where you can feel the breath of the Joseon Dynasty, and there are 9 royal tombs. The site of the Achasan Beacon Fire Station at the top of Bonghwasan Mountain is also a historic site. Achasan Beacon Fire Station was delivered from Hani Mountain in Yangju to Namsan Mountain. Near Manguri Park, there is the Jungnang Camping Forest, where you can enjoy camping in the city center, and the Jungnang Sports Climbing Range, which is 17m high and 30m wide, perfect for a spring outing.
