Located near the summit of Mt. Daeam (1304m) in Inje-gun, Gangwon-do, Yongneup is the only high-rise wetland in Korea (a wetland on top of a mountain with developed plant communities). In recognition of its value, it was registered as Korea’s first Ramsar wetland in 1997. The name Yongneup is said to have originated from the legend of ‘a place where ascending dragons rest for a while’. You can start exploring Yongneup from Inje-gun to the east of Daeamsan Mountain and Yanggu-gun to the west. If you have children, the Gaari course in Inje-eup, Inje-gun, which takes you to the Yongneup entrance by private vehicle, is good. Guided by a guide, you can tour Yongneup and climb to the top of Daeamsan Mountain. There are many other things to see in Inje-gun, which has Yongneup. Korea DMZ Peace and Life Garden is a research and educational institution to preserve and pass on the ecosystem, history, and culture of the DMZ to future generations. In the place where Naerincheon and Inbukcheon meet to form Soyanggang, Hapgangjeong, a pavilion from the Joseon Dynasty, and Inje Mountain Village Folk Museum and Park Inhwan Literature Museum are side by side along the Soyanggang River that crosses Inje-eup.
