Jeongseon Arirang, in search of that long and mournful sound

Jeongseon Arirang perfectly resembles the nature and emotions of Jeongseon, a mountainous area. Unlike the fast and cheerful Miryang Arirang or the composed and elegant Jindo Arirang, the melody is monotonous and lengthy, and the lyrics are sad and mournful. The 3,000 or so lyrics of Jeongseon Arirang, which have been recorded and handed down to date, contain the dense mountain foothills, the river that bends and flows between mountains, the geographical isolation, the exhaustion of mountain life, and the optimism for a life that is not lost nonetheless. As a travel destination to visit Arirang, Geogeolhyeon-dong, the birthplace of Jeongseon Arirang, Auraji, the stage of Love, Jeongseon Arirang Training Center, and Arirang Theater are all good places. However, the first thing to do is climb up the hill and take a look at the land of Jeongseon. Banbanjae, Saebijae, and Byeongbangchi are relatively easy to access among the passes where you can see the features of Jeongseon’s land. We also tour the Records Love Village Exhibition Hall (formerly Hambaek Station) and Silver Grass Exhibition Hall (formerly Byeoeogok Station), which turned a train station in danger of disappearing due to a decrease in passengers into a local museum.
