Since ancient times, Arirang, a folk song that represents the sentiments of the Korean people, is most often sung when expressing national harmony or homogeneity. Arirang is now captivating the people of the global village beyond the Korean people. Gyeonggi Arirang (or Seoul Arirang) became a favorite song of the Korean people during the Japanese colonial period with Na Woon-kyu’s movie as an opportunity. The folk song Arirang, which was the title and theme song of the film, provided an opportunity to instill national spirit and the spirit of independence in the people living in the colonial era. Arirang, which is well known to foreigners, is also based on this tune. Since then, our people have shared their joys and sorrows by singing Arirang. Now, more and more foreigners think of Korea when they hear Arirang. At the Gyeonggi Sori Training Center in Gwacheon, Arirang is taught as one of Gyeonggi Sori.
