Gyechon-ri, Bangrim-myeon, Pyeongchang-gun, Gangwon-do, is a village located at an altitude of 700m. It has excellent natural scenery as well as Gyechon Elementary and Middle School, where all students are active as orchestra members. In 2009, Gyechon Elementary School established the string-centered Gyechon Starlight Orchestra, in which all students participate, in order to provide an educational environment for taking care of students after school. After being selected as the Gyechon Classic Village in 2015, villagers gathered to organize the Gyechon Classic Festival Committee, and village development centered on residents’ autonomy is active to revitalize the Gyechon Classic Village. Accordingly, the Gyechon Classic Festival is held to contribute to the promotion of local culture and the spread of culture in everyday life by linking local villages and art genres.
