The Seoul Metropolitan Government opened the waste water treatment plant in Seonyudo, Yeongdeungpo-gu, as an eco-friendly ecological park in 2002. Seonyudo Park is highly valued in that it reproduces the historical industrial heritage. The filter paper, which used to filter out impurities by putting sand and gravel in the tank, was used as a management office, and the chemical settling tank, which used to sink and remove impurities in the water, was splendidly revived as a ‘water purification source’. The ‘Garden of Green Pillars’, where the roof of the water purification pond’s concrete top plate was removed and only pillars were left, and the ‘Garden of Time’, where the structure of the old sedimentation basin is most intact, are popular photo zones in Seonyudo Park. The ‘Environmental Classroom’, ‘Environmental Playground’, and ‘Naru’, a cafe remodeled from a water intake pumping station, provide a valuable resting place for citizens. The arched Seonyugyo Bridge, which connects the southern part of Seonyudo and Yanghwa Hangang Park, adds to the romantic atmosphere with colorful lights at night. Mullae Creative Village is a 15-minute drive from Seonyudo Park. The sound of sledgehammers, small galleries, alleys and pretty cafes coexist in this place where small-scale steel factories and hardware stores used to be located. 63 Square, the landmark of the Han River, is also nearby. Aqua Planet 63, which stimulates children’s hearts, and 63 Art on the top 60th floor are loved for their outstanding views.
