The Eco Village in Yeongwol is a space where you can become familiar with nature through ‘intentional inconvenience’. Conserve electricity and water, avoid using disposable products, etc. Intentional inconvenience is an act of caring for nature at a minimum. Ecovillage, which aims for ‘Zero House’, is an energy self-sufficient building that does not emit carbon. Solar power is used to generate electricity, and solar heat is used to heat the rooms. High-performance windows and high-insulation and high-airtight materials are used to reduce heat loss, and only the temperature and humidity are recovered from the polluted air in the room with a rotary heat exchanger and supplied again with fresh air. In seasons when it is difficult to secure power only from sunlight, a pellet boiler using renewable fuel serves as an auxiliary power source. So, for a night in the Eco Village, your body, mind, and even the night sky are clean. Eco Village turns off the entire lights every night from 9:00 p.m. to 10 minutes so that guests can enjoy the stars comfortably. The time to light a bonfire in the grassy yard and ‘fire’ is also attractive. There are pretty bookstores that can replace smartphones, and board games that the whole family can enjoy. Donggang Ecological Information Center and Yeongwol Insect Museum are spaces where you can experience the preciousness of eco-friendliness experienced while staying in the Eco Village through various exhibits. The dense pine forest at Cheongnyeongpo (Scenic Site) in Yeongwol, the site of King Danjong’s exile, is the highlight of a trip in search of the beauty of nature.
