With the vision of being ‘Asia’s Best Game Esports Fair’, this game festival aims to promote the growth of the game esports industry, which is a key growth engine for the future Seoul economy, increase citizens’ understanding of the industry, and expand Seoul’s global status as an esports powerhouse. GES 2024 is a place for key players in the game and esports ecosystem to come together, and it has a broad meaning of exploring and sharing new technologies and experiences together, and providing new business opportunities for the game and esports industry ecosystem. A game company exhibition and experience zone has been set up to provide citizens with opportunities to experience and enjoy games and esports up close through various participatory events.
Also, about 20 small and medium-sized game developers (teams) located in Seoul and tech companies that can be integrated with games will be selected so that many citizens visiting the site can experience Seoul’s games. In addition, the ‘Seoul Cup’, an amateur e-sports competition held in the form of a national middle and high school e-sports competition, will be held. The ‘Seoul Cup’ will feature two popular games: League of Legends (LoL) and Battlegrounds. In the case of League of Legends, 5-person teams can participate regardless of tier, and Battlegrounds can also be participated in by students attending the same middle or high school regardless of tier. For the youth who will be the main players in the future game industry, an e-sports field job mentoring for youth will also be held.
We will conduct backstage tours of e-sports stadiums and customized mentoring with experts in the e-sports industry. In addition, we will hold a game development contest, a program for high school and college students. Game development teams currently enrolled in schools located in Korea can participate and have the opportunity to win prizes through game presentations, demonstrations, and evaluations. Teams of 5 or fewer people interested in game development can apply, and mentoring on game development and business commercialization will be provided, along with prize money.
