Crowned by the 1,708-meter summit of Daecheongbong, Mount Seoraksan represents the geographical spine of South Korea. 2. Sinheungsa Temple & The 108-Ton Great Unification Buddha
Founded in 652 AD by Master Jajang during the Silla Kingdom, Sinheungsa is one of the oldest Zen (Seon) temples in the nation. Greeting travelers immediately past the outer gate is the monumental Tongil Daebul, a 14.6-meter seated bronze Buddha cast from 108 tons of copper to pray for peaceful Korean reunification.
3. Gwongeumseong Cable Car & Trail Logistics
For visitors seeking high-alpine panoramas without intensive mountaineering, the Seorak Cable Car whisks passengers up to the craggy heights of Gwongeumseong fortress in just 5 minutes. From Sokcho Intercity or Express Bus Terminals, local municipal buses No. 7 or 7-1 run frequently directly to the park terminal at Seorak-dong.
