Cheorwon Hantangang Columnar Joint Road, which offers an unexplored and thrilling experience comparable to overseas attractions, is gaining high popularity. This is a road built between Sundam and Drni in the Hantangang River Geopark certified by UNESCO, with a total length of 3.6km. Walk along the jando (road on a high cliff) and admire the unique topography of the Hantangang River area created by volcanic activity. 13 bridges, 3 sky observatory, and 10 observation shelters were installed to enjoy the view and breathtaking fun, and to adjust walking and resting to suit each individual’s physical strength. This road has two entrances, so you have to drive or walk to get back to the starting point. For the former, you can take a free shuttle bus between both ticket offices on weekends and holidays, and take a taxi on weekdays. After paying the entrance fee (10,000 won for adults, 4,000 won for teenagers, and 3,000 won for children), about half of it is returned as a Cheorwon Love Gift Certificate (5,000 won for adults, 2,000 won for teenagers, and 1,000 won for children). Admission is from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm, and closes at 3:00 pm during the winter season (December 1st – February 28th of the following year). Closed on Tuesdays, January 1st, and national holidays. Goseokjeong Pavilion (Gangwon Monument) is not far from Sundam Ticket Office on Cheorwon Hantangang Columnar Joint Road. Goseokjeong Pavilion is a pavilion on the bank of the Hantangang River, and it also refers to the entire canyon. The towering rock in front of the pavilion is magnificent. Don’t miss Cheorwon Hantan River Eunha Bridge, a new specialty of Hantangang River, and Cheorwon History and Culture Park, which reproduces the modern city area when Cheorwon prospered. All three locations are free of charge.
