Welcome to Busan! Our goal for this itinerary is to explore the historical landmarks throughout Busan. We will be visiting temples, museums, and cultural villages to learn about the city’s rich history and culture.
Day 1: Arrival and Check-In
We recommend staying at a hotel in the Haeundae Beach area such as Paradise Hotel Busan, Shilla Stay Haeundae or The Westin Chosun Busan. Check-in and relax for the day to recover from the journey.
Day 2: Beomeosa Temple
Start the day with a visit to the Beomeosa Temple, a beautiful Buddhist temple located in the mountains of Busan. Take the subway (Line 1) to Beomeosa Station and take the local bus or taxi to the temple. There are various hiking trails where you can appreciate the beauty of the temple and nature. After that, let’s have lunch at one of the local eateries nearby the temple as there are many options to choose from.
In the afternoon, head down to the UN Memorial Cemetery where you can learn about the history of the Korean War and pay respects to those who died in the conflict. The entrance fee is free of charge.
Day 3: Gamcheon Culture Village
Take the subway (Line 1) to Toseong Station and then transfer to the bus or take a taxi to Gamcheon Culture Village. This village is located on the hills overlooking the sea and is known for its colorful buildings and murals. You can also visit the Trick Eye Museum and cafes that offer panoramic views of the sea. Be sure to try the famous Bupyeong Market-style Tteokbokki (spicy rice cake) while you’re here.
Day 4: Haedong Yonggungsa Temple and Gijang Market
Take the subway (Line 2) to Haeundae Station and transfer to a Busan City Tour Bus or take a taxi to Haedong Yonggungsa Temple. This is a unique temple because it is located on the coast, which makes for a breathtaking view. For lunch, we recommend visiting Gijang Market, known for its fresh seafood and street food.
Day 5: Busan Museum and BIFF Square
On this day, we will learn about Busan’s history and artistic culture. Take the subway (Line 1) to Busan Station and take the local bus or taxi to the Busan Museum, which is located in the heart of the city. The museum houses artifacts and exhibits that showcase Busan’s cultural heritage. For lunch, go to Gukje Market and try the Busan-style Bibimbap.
In the evening, head down to BIFF Square, where you can experience the vibrant cinema culture of Busan. This area is especially lively during the Busan International Film Festival, but any time of year, there are many street vendors, cafes, and shopping areas to explore.
Day 6: Yongdusan Park and Busan Tower
Take the subway (Line 1) to Nampo Station and walk to Yongdusan Park, which is a popular park in Busan. The park is known for its lush greenery and the Busan Tower, which offers a panoramic view of the city. For those who are more adventurous, there is a skywalk that allows you to walk around the tower.
For lunch, we recommend visiting Jagalchi Market, which is the largest fish market in Korea. After that, visit the Bokcheon Museum to learn about the ancient history of Busan.
Day 7: Departure
