Danjongje, which has been held since 1967, is a festival created by local residents of Yeongwol to mourn King Danjong, who was deprived of the throne at a young age and passed away in Gwanpungheon, Yeongwol. Since then, it has been renamed as Danjong Cultural Festival and has grown into a festival where history and culture coexist. And in 2023, the 56th Danjong Cultural Festival returns with the subtitle ‘Spring in Yeongwol’.
