If you go on an early summer vacation, how about Samcheok where the mountains and the sea harmonize? If you are a camper, set up a base camp at the Maengbang Beach Camping Site, and if you are a Chabak, Maengbang Beach, which leads to the sacred place of Chabak, let’s enjoy a leisurely vacation. Maengbang Beach, which is famous as a shooting location for BTS’ album jackets, is surprisingly quiet. At the southern end of Maengbang Beach is Deokbongsan Mountain. Deokbongsan, which was an island in the past and connected to the mainland, commands Maengbang Beach and Deoksan Beach like wings. It was opened in 2021 after being banned from entry due to a military checkpoint, but it has emerged as a famous place in Samcheok thanks to its beautiful scenery. The taste of enjoying the emerald-colored sea and the coast lined with oddly shaped rocks on the coastal trail that follows the circumference of Deokbongsan Mountain is unique. When you climb to the top of the 54m high, you can see the wide sea and the peaks of the inland Baekdudaegan at a glance. If the beach is hot, let’s go to Samcheok’s remote valley. Samcheok Vigorous Healing Forest is a clean space where a cool valley flows. If you dip your feet in the valley, the heat is goodbye. Beyond the wall, Naritgol Gamseong Village is also worth a visit. Daldongne overlooking Samcheok Port has been renovated. Alleys, murals, and the sea harmonize in a charming way.
