Bunjuryeong turns into a ‘heavenly flower garden’ in May. Wildflowers with strange names rush to bud. The course from Dumundongjae to Geumdaebong Peak, Bunjuryeong, and Geomryongso is perfect for enjoying wild flower trekking in spring. There are about 900 kinds of wild flowers that bloom only in Geumdaebong Peak and Bunjuryeong, such as widower’s wind flower, tiger’s tail, corydalis, and primrose. On the way down, you can also meet Geomnyongso, the origin of the Han River. After the wild flower trekking, there are many places to visit with children. The Taebaek Paleozoic Natural History Museum, which exhibits trilobites and dinosaurs of the Paleozoic Era, and the Taebaek Coal Museum, which shows the history of the domestic coal industry at a glance, are popular. Children also like Yongyeon Cave located in Hwajeon-dong. Taebaek Highland Natural Recreation Forest is a place where you can feel the aspect of Taebaek, a resort city, and it is a good place to stay for a day and relax. The Maebongsan Wind Farm, where huge wind turbines create a wonderful view, is also worth a visit.
