Hwagae Garden is a garden created at the foot of Hwagae Mountain in Gyodong Island. It is also a travel destination where you can experience Gyodong Island inside the Civilian Control Line. Therefore, the month of June, when the Korean War took place, is even more meaningful. The Hwagaesan Observatory Skywalk at the top offers a panoramic view of North Korea’s Yeonbaek Plain. It’s touching because the end across the sea is North Korea. Nevertheless, it is comforting to know that the seas of South and North Korea flow together without a barbed wire fence.
Of course, Hwagae Garden in June is also a green resting place. The approximately 180,000 plants planted in five different gardens are extremely refreshing. Roses and hydrangeas are welcome this time of year. You can’t just pass by the daze zone either. Sunbeds, hammocks, etc. are installed and a shade can be provided, making it a great place to stay idly while looking at the sea. Mobile stamp missions are also fun. If you find and authenticate 6 of the 8 pot lid sculptures that symbolize Hwagaesan Mountain, you will receive a souvenir. A monorail operates to the top. It is perfect for those who are physically challenged or whose only goal is an observatory.
Geumpung Brewery is a three-generation brewery. Light tasting and experiences are also possible. Yakseokwon is a sitz training experience center using strengthened medicinal mugwort. Both places are Ganghwa wellness travel destinations that represent Incheon. Gyeryongdondae on the west coast is a quiet rest area with a beautiful sunset.
