The keyword that penetrated Korea in 2018 is ‘peace’. The first inter-Korean summit in 11 years is the beginning. The scene where the leaders of the two Koreas crossed the Military Demarcation Line hand in hand gave an unforgettable impression to the entire nation. There was a song in that historic spot. ‘Dreaming of Balhae’ was released in 1994 by Seo Taiji and Boys. The music video for this song was filmed at the Labor Party building in Cheorwon, Gangwon-do. Although the outer wall of the Labor Party building barely remained like an empty matchbox during the Korean War, it was designated as Registered Cultural Property No. 22 in May 2002 in recognition of its historicity. Since then, various peace prayer events such as unification prayer festivals and music concerts have been held here, and it has been reborn as a peace travel destination. The Cheorwon Plain seen from the Soisan Ecological Forest Green Road Observatory, Goseokjeong Pavilion where the legend of Im Kkeok-jeong remains, the DMZ Tour to see the 2nd Infiltration Tunnel, Cheorwon Peace Observatory, and Woljeong-ri Station are also points not to be missed while traveling in Cheorwon. The beautiful night view of the Labor Party building and the wonderful Milky Way in the night sky are bonuses of this trip.
