A trip to Chuncheon that brings Ethiopia closer, the Ethiopian Korean War Veterans Memorial

Local people
Ethiopia Road, Chuncheon-si, Gangwon-do

There is a special place in Chuncheon where you can feel Ethiopia closer. The Ethiopian Korean War Memorial is located along Gongjicheon Stream. It is a space to commemorate the merits and sacrifices of the Ethiopian army during the Korean War, and was built in the image of a traditional Ethiopian house. In the exhibition room, you can see the process of dispatching Ethiopian troops, combat records, and the culture of Ethiopia, the country of coffee. The ‘Ethiopia House’ across the road is a cafe that has been associated with Ethiopia since 1968, before the Korean War Veterans Memorial was built. The emperor of Ethiopia gave the cafe its name and the symbol of the royal family, the golden lion, and until 1974, green coffee beans were sent to the royal family. It is a place where you can experience the aroma and culture of Ethiopian coffee. Chuncheon has many other unique travel destinations. Mullegil is a waterway in Chuncheon where you can experience the lake by canoe. Recently, the King Canoe riding together is attracting attention. The old Kim Yu-jeong Station and Kim Yu-jeong Literary Village are popular as SNS photo zones for young couples. Yuklim Hill is a rising street in Chuncheon. Young merchants joined the old commercial district and created a Newtro-style street. The Animation Museum reopened in September of last year after supplementing video contents and facilities. The Toy Robot Museum is next door, so it’s perfect for a family trip.
