Taebaek is an area where Paleozoic strata are distributed. Many fossils of trilobites of various sizes and types have been found. Trilobites are creatures that dominated the Paleozoic sea. In other words, it means that this place was the sea a long time ago. As the name implies, the Taebaek Paleozoic Museum of Natural History is a museum specializing in the Paleozoic era, but it presents exhibition contents covering the geological era from the Precambrian through the Paleozoic and Mesozoic to the Cenozoic. There are exciting exhibits such as trilobite fossils and models, a 4-sided immersive video experience zone that reproduces the interior of the ancient sea, miniature dinosaur models, and Paleolithic footprint fossils. Let’s ask the self-driving robot to explain the exhibition and guide you through convenience facilities, and take a commemorative photo. They also enjoy experiential activities that combine play and learning, such as augmented reality (AR) experiences, rubbing fossils, and matching trilobites with magnetic puzzles. The museum is open from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm (closed on Mondays), and the admission fee is 2,000 won for adults, 1,500 won for teenagers, and 1,000 won for children. There is Gumunso (natural monument) near the museum. It is a terrain with a deep puddle under a large hole drilled in a 20-30m high rock wall. The water passing through Gumunso flows southward and becomes the main stream of the Nakdonggang River. Hwangji in the city is the source. 365 Safe Town, the largest safety experience theme park in Korea, is close to the museum. Located in a meadow 800m above sea level, Monttorang San Sheep Ranch is popular on social media for its Alps-like scenery.
