Gadeokdo Island is located at the southwestern tip of Busan. It is an island connected to Busan New Port by Gadeok Bridge and Geoje Island by Gadeok Undersea Tunnel and Geoga Bridge. For a while, it was a passageway between Geoje and Busan, but now it attracts travelers with the charm of Gadeokdo Island. Gadeokdo Island was a trading port during the Unified Silla Dynasty, and a strategic point for entering Busan and Jinhae during the Joseon Dynasty. The closest history is the Russo-Japanese War and the period of Japanese colonial rule. Since Oeyangpo is a military reserve, it is impossible to develop it, so traces of the time remain well. The gunpowder camp, gunpowder warehouse, and the building of the Military Police Department testify to the painful history. In Daehangsaebazi, there is a cave of the Japanese fortress that Gangwon-do coal mine workers dug during World War II. This is the reason why Gadeokdo Island is recommended as a historical travel destination for families in Patriots and Veterans Day. You can also enjoy the beauty of the island. Yeondaebong, the highest peak in Gadeokdo Island, makes you realize Gadeokdo Island connected to Geoje Island. In Jeongeo Village, a mural made of scallop shells attracts attention. On the way to downtown Busan after crossing Gadeok Bridge, let’s stop by Eulsukdo Island. The Busan Museum of Contemporary Art, which opened last year, is greeted by the exterior wall decorated with plants and the cafe itself, which is a work of art in itself. The Nakdonggang Ecological Exploration Boat, accompanied by an ecological commentator, provides an opportunity to see Eulsukdo Island up close.
