The Busan Lotus Lantern Festival is an event that inherits the Yeondeunghoe designated as a national intangible cultural property and a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in the Busan region. Yeondeunghoe is a cultural event unique to Korea that has been going on for over 1,300 years. It is a festival to light the lanterns of hope for harmony and prosperity in our society in celebration of Buddha’s birthday. Major events include the Busan Lotus Lantern Festival, which focuses on traditional lantern exhibitions, and the Busan Lotus Lantern Festival, which hosts a parade of lanterns.
