Starting with Line 1 in 1985 and ending with Line 4 in 2009, the Busan Metro operates four lines. Among them, line 1 is a route connecting Busan from north to south from Sinpyeong to Nopo, and it has 34 stations and is 32.5 km long. As the first subway to open, it not only connects the center of Busan, but also embraces various tourist destinations in Busan. In particular, there are many places that preserve the history of Busan intact. Centered around Dongnae Station, Oncheonjang Station, and Beomeosa Station, located to the north of Line 1, you can see Geumjeongsanseong Fortress, the largest mountain fortress in Korea, Dongraeupseong Fortress, where the Battle of Dongrae Fortress took place during the Japanese invasion of Korea in 1592, and Bokcheon Museum, which exhibits relics from the Gaya era. In addition, centered on Toseong Station and Jungang Station located on the south side of Line 1, you can enjoy a market tour filled with the warmth and food of Busan as well as the modern and contemporary history of Busan.
